Trim Rings - lets find a correct repo
So here are images of trim rings I have. I do not know if they are original or when they were made. But in order to find good reproductions lets start a thread to get examples of as accurate of ones as we can.
Here are 14" on the left and a 15" on the right. The 14" I am in the middle of polishing so it looks burnished. Notice the 14 has a large oval hole for the valve stem and the 15 has a smaller round one. I believe this to be correct
This is their height
back side again 14" on left
14"
15"

it was pretty good to begin with. for the others its elbow grease! Depeding on how deep the scratches are you will either use a 300, 400 or 600 grit of sand paper, then move up to 1000 etc. and then buff with polishing compound, takes a long time.

Steven,
I too would like to find a correct repro. My new 15" ones do not look correct to me as they are to coned shaped and do not go all the way into the rim like my 14"'s used to. Yours look correct to me (not sure of the finish ?). Yours are deeper and look like they would go right into the rim all the way. Where di you get your 15's?
The one on the left is my original 14's and the right is the new 15's

my new 15 inch trim rings look just like yours, my old 15 inch trim rings are "original" as far as I can tell but are not really worth putting on a car that is near show quality. I think all the 15 will look more "cone shaped" as the center part of the 14 and 15 inch rim is the same so the trim ring needs to go farther in towards the center of the rim for coverage.

Can you show me a pic of your new rings mounted on the rim.
The pic you have on this thread of the 15" vs the 14" looks different from mine.
Where did you get the new 15" trim rings?

No need for research. I posted in another thread that there is already a source for the 15 inch trim rings. You just need to go to Mopar suppliers. The 73, 74 cars used the same trim rings. Here are some pics of them on my car. They are identical to original olds 15 inch rings I have right down to the opening of for valve stem.

Mine are the same as those & I got them here:

I don't know if they have the "correct" molding contour along the outside of the ring but they fit the entire depth of the rim and look great
Where he says "Mopar" above you can see they are listed as both here:

I can't believe this thread has gone this far without any reference to what year(s) any particular ring are supposed to be for. Like all 14" and all 15" are the same, which is not true.
Off the top of my head, I know that for 14" rings, '68, '69, '70 SSI, and '70-'72 SSII rings are all different.

So please give us a description, heck I used to go to the wheel yards on the south side of Chicago and pick up SSIIs for 5 bucks in the late 70's $20 with a tire and trim ring. Doesn't mean it was "original" or even "correct" for my '72 supreme. That's why I started the thread. I would like to know and help others know as well. Go around the swap area at Lansing and everyone with a trim ring will either say "I have no idea what its from" or "I garuantee you its for your application" - personally I don't know and really most of the time I don't give a darn, but if I find the right ones I just may buy them
