Thanx to TireRack

I really want to thank TireRack not only for sponsoring our site but the lightning fast shipping. I have ordered tires from them 3 different times and each time I got them the next day. I really don't know any business that is this quick at shipping their product. Yesterday around 4pm we ordered 2 225/40-18's and 2 245/40-18's for the wife's car and they arrived before 11am. How cool is that. And the prices were great.

Sounds like you got a good deal! I have heard good things about them...

I looked into TR when i was getting tires and it looked as if they had some sort of installation deal set with certain companies. I could not find any details on their site - do you know anything about this? Maybe i am wrong...

In the end i assumed i was just just buyin gthe tires and having them installed at any shop at whatever they charge (which would still a good deal in most cases)...

I've used them a few times, great service, fast shipping, no problems, best bottom line price.
Cool to have a stack of tires delivered to your door.
I take two at a time and have them done at the tire place, keep the old ones and take them to the county recycling days with all my old oil and sludge and stuff, no disposal fees that way. It would be easier to take the car but I won't let them tire guys or most service guys anywhere near my cars unless I trust them and get to watch every move.

That is correct, and oddly enough the local installer here is Discount Tire!

Bought many sets from TR. Recently, I picked up two sets of four from their new warehouse in CT. All was good. I'd rather buy from TR than wrestle a reasonable price from the crooks at the local chain shops.
TR's web site has links to local establishments that will mount your tires. They don't have a deal, but just local shops that are willing to mount tires that they didn't sell. I get mine mounted and balanced at Meinek*e for $15 a pop.

Thumbs down

Tire Rack is fine unless there is a problem with your order.

Then, the customer service goes in the toilet.

I had a problem with a tire/rim order, and the customer service people treated me like crap.

So, I will grow rubber trees and mold my own tires if there are the only place to buy.

So what does one have to pay to get TireRack tires mounted at Discount tire?
If it no charge, or a percentage of their regular mounting / balancing charge?? This is what i could not figure out last year...

I thought about ordering from them in the past but my problem has been finding a local shop that won't rip me off for mounting and balancing since I did not buy the tires from them. I did recently find one so my next set will come from them.

Most shops in the northern areas have specials for swapping over to winter tires. They shouldn't charge you any more than that to mount and balance any tires until you get into the 17"+ sizes
