Stock Wheel Spacing on 62 Cutlass

Hey guys. I have a 62 Cutlass in near perfect body condition that I want to restore to factory, save seatbelts, a 5.3L/4L60E swap, and a full disc brake conversion. Because of the disc conversion, I need new wheels. I found some nice ones on a Chevy 5 on 5 pattern, but to see if they fit, I need 4 crucial measurements, which are in the picture that I will link.

You need to consider a rear end upgrade too. That engine will make short work of the original.

Find a Ford disc brake rear and have it narrowed and altered as needed to fit.

Why Ford? Good to begin with, ratio choices out the wazoo, and ez to find.

Have any pictures of the car? It is a MAJOR job to do an engine or transmission swap on these cars. You have to cut the floor pans and major mods to the front suspension and another rear end to start with.

I have 4 photos of the outside. It's got a rust holes in the floor and a dent in the passenger door, so I was gonna send it to a body shop anyway. I could get the trans tunnel modded there.

What ratio rear would you recommend for just cruising? 3.5?

With an overdrive automatic you could probably go 3.70-3.90 range and still get decent fuel mileage and a whole lot more dig.

Listen to Eric. He knows these cars better than anyone here. Joe Padavano too.
