It's hard to say which cars got what we now call the SSI wheels. There were production problems in the '68 model year with what we now call the SSII wheels and there are (as I understand) a few instances of "early" model year '68 cars receiving SSI wheels. What constitutes "early" is another good question. Production problems with the SSII wheel were supposedly resolved and SSII wheels were fully available in the mid- to latter part of March 1968.

The announcement came late in March the the "problem" was fully resolved, but this seems to be a case where the announcement came apparently well "after the fact". There are known cases of SSII coming on cars as early as October. So far I have found none after the first of the year, and I know at the time of the W31 production, which was well before the announcement, one could not get SSIs on a W31.
For sure, there was not a cut over date as such.
