How do i keep my hubcaps from falling off?!? Ive lost 1 of 4 from both two sets i have and this is aggravating! There has got to be some way to secure them to the tires other than the tabs that are alrwady on it. I dont see why they would fall of as i am by no means off roading. What the heck!!!

 

What hub caps are you using? Post pictures of them and the wheels

 

Slow down and stop hitting pot holes.

 

Glue and zip ties come to mind.

 

If you are still using the wire wheel covers as shown in your photo album, you should also have the retainers that bolt to the wheels and then the wheel cover can be locked to the retainer... If the retainers are missing, you will need the retainers, as well as the special bolt & wrench....

This is one type used by Olds, there is also one with a stud in the middle... I don't remember for sure which type the CC used...

 

The car came with 3 of the 4 wire wheel covers and one fell off so i took off the others for safe keeping, now i put these on from my other CC and one of these fell off. Ill get a picture up of the wheel itself once i get home as the car is not with me.

 

Where i live, that is an impossible task. We dont have roads here we have death traps

 

I had the same issue on a couple of G-body wagons. On one car I was able to bend the tabs inward a little and that seemed to hold them on. On the other, I eventually had to buy a new (to me) set of wheel covers at the wreckers to solve the problem.

 

Sometimes if you go around the outside tabs where they contact the wheel with 2 layers of electrical tape, they will grip better. I've found if you try to bend the tabs, then the cap mounting isn't concentric and will wobble its way off.

 

I had one hubcap that came off my car twice.I was over at a friends house and he said he could weld four small tabs just to the outside of where the cleats seated.He did and they haven't ran off again. It's a little harder to get it on, but it's not golng to get lost. Larry

 

Interesting. I remember when people were switching to radial tires from bias back in the day and a number of cars started having this trouble. Not sure of solutions.
