Refinishing SI and SII wheels - also tire problem
Refinishing SSI and SSII wheels - also tire problem
How hard is it to redo a set of these? The car is on ET wheels now, but there were also a few sets of the SSI and SSIIs in the garage and I'd like to get it back on the originals.
Also, the current wheels had drivers side flat tires from sitting so long, passenger side were fine. The car is on jack stands now and I took the ET wheels with me back to NC. They are holding air and I am wondering since the sidewalls were dry rotted so bad, should I just replace for transport back to NC on the car hauler? I'm afraid when I put weight on these that something bad will happen on the trip back. Maybe I'm being too cautious. I can post pics of the tires if that helps.

Yeah, these would be transport only. The outer rubber is cracked like mad, but like I said they do hold air. I brought them back with me just in case they didn't and I had to replace with some cheap ones to get it rolling.
I'm glad the ones on the pass side were full. He had it pinned in close to the shelving on that side. Would not have been a fun job to get those ones off.

Here are the wheels that I found. Not original to the car, but may have went with the other one, "The Blue Ghost."
This is an assumption on my part that these aren't original to this car, based on the color.

I've redone numerous sets of each type wheel with nice results. Just don't media blast the SSI spokes, and check that the lug holes aren't all stretched out on the SSIs before starting work. For SSIs, lots of masking tape or the pre-done masking kits available from some vendors, satin black in the front face, and a razor blade to clean up any overspray worked wonders. I also now have a couple beautiful low mile originals to use as templates, especially for what the backs looked like before road salt, etc.

Found the factory pricing on the SSI option. More expensive than the SSII. I wouldn't have figured that. http://wildaboutcarsonline.com/membe..._SPECS_Jan.pdf
Let me know if you need a few spare SS-2's wheels for your 70 in argent.
My 70 442 came with 3, but I could care less for them. These will have the bolt on caps as well. I am going to keep the spare as it has a wide O oval.

Thanks! I have a full set, but I didn't take too close of a look at condition. I know one was extremely rusty around the inside lip. Also it had a different, shorter center cap that just had a friction grip to the wheel, vs the 3 other center caps which were longer and had 5 bolts each.
