Painting Yearone 17 in. SSII chrome wheels

Has anyone attempted to paint these wheels to replicate the typical OEM finish that would leave the cutout bezels and trim ring areas chrome?

Im thinking about getting these for my 73 in the silver version.
I think the painted centers will be easier to deal with for the body color match.

I have a set for my car and I talked with my painter about doing the same thing.....he said it was possible but it would be difficult to get the chrome sanded down properly to accept the paint and the tape job would be very time consuming as well, I think I am going to try to have them vinly wrapped to achieve the same look.

Please let us know how that works out. I know nothing about that process.
