Paint and spacers for Rallye II wheels

What type of paint should I use on my Rallye II wheels? (Thinking argent gray or dark argent). Also, would the rear wheels better fill the wheel wells if I use a wheel spacer (maybe 1 inch?)? Many thanks.

Fusick has a correct paint for the wheels. It's not shiny. Argent kinda dull gray. As for spacers don't do it.

Rally II wheels are Pontiac wheels. I ASSUME you mean SuperStock II. What size tires are you running? If you have 14" wheels, the largest diameter tire that is readily available is 225/70-14, and at about 26.5" outside diameter it's about the same size as the stock tires. If you are running a 60-series tire, it's way too small. You can get repro bias ply tires that are larger, but they are expensive (and bias ply)

Thank you. Yes, you're correct, SS II wheels on a '70 Cutlass Supreme convertible, not stock or #s matching. These wheels are 15" though it came with stock 14s. Currently running 275/60/15s out back on Torq Thrust 8.5" wides, and it fits just right. Wondering if spacers would match the current track/look.

Not knowing what offset you have on the Torque Thrust wheels, it's hard to say. Factory 15x7" SSII/III wheels have zero offset. The largest tire I'd run on a 7" wheel is 255/60-15. If you have aftermarket SSII/III wheels in a wider than stock width, there's no way to know what the offset is without measuring them. You haven't provided enough info for anyone to give you useful answers. What width are the SSII wheels? What is the offset of the old and new wheels? What size tire do you plan to run on the SSII wheels?

The SS IIs are 7 inches wide, stock GM parts, offset unknown. Plan to keep the 275/60s as they fit and look fine.

Ive got 255-60-15s on factory ss rims on a 72 cutlass. They fill the wheel well pretty well. The 275s are almost ~ 1” wider.

The 225/70/14s are smaller than stock, and look like it! I used to run 235/70/14s and they were slightly larger than stock and looked great on my 71 442. Tire makers have turned there backs on people who want to run stock wheels when they stopped making them.

You can run the 275 60’s on a 7 inch wheel. To be honest I’d keep the torque thrust.

Dredged up a thread that's been dead for four years.

In any case, stock tires for 1970-72 442s were G70x14. Those are 26.82" outside diameter and have an 8.75" section width. 225/70-14s have a 26.40" outside diameter (less than 1/2" smaller - a 1.5% difference) and an 8.86" section width. Yes, 235/70-14s would be a better choice if they still were manufactured. Go back and read the part where I wrote "the largest diameter tire that is readily available is 225/70-14."
