Decided to go retro..(im poor)
so i got sick and tired of the wheels on my car since they're the wrong back spacing and constantly rubbing my fenders when i hit a bump..i pulled out my original '64 jetstar wheels LOL they're just the stockers for hubcap but i've got those too how they started..e6e492ac.jpg little bit of sandblasting 7fcdcf0a.jpg
and the hubcaps from my '64..i'm probably just going to paint the wheels black like this..82a951f0.jpg because i really like the look for some reason sorry for the crappy quality of the last pic..had to brighten the heck out of it to see

With reference to my first pic. I personally love that look, however when I did it on my Fury, and I quote "the wife said it was the most butt ugly car she ever saw and swore she would not ride in it"!!! I asked her if she would promise and thats when the fight started!!!
The second pic is my compromise. By the way this car won more awards with the American racing wheels on it than with steel an poverty caps!!

alright so i finally got enough crud off of these wheels to feel good about painting them..did two coats of primer and one coat of finish gray i had for headers(ceramic and silica mixed in) and so one wheel i did spray came out looking good IMO 391f5fb7.jpgd6f31569.jpg3bd31f62.jpgc2fafe11.jpg
i did the gray primer first because it was the only one that says it blocks rust
then the white just to save some gray for another wheel.. then the ceramic header paint. tomorrow they go black and get some radials hopefully next wheel.

They cleaned up 'real good'. Can't wait to see them finished! Got some poverty caps for them? I think leaving the center dust cover and wheel lugs open like in the mopar pic just doesn't look quite 'complete'.
"Use the force Luke, don't be swayed by the DARK side" I'd bet there are guys who would swap you poverty caps for the full size covers you've got. They look like they're in decent shape, and would clean up to probably show quality.

crap..ok so i can't decide now lol found out my 4th steelie is badly damaged where the hub would come through the wheel so i've got to find one and clean it up and so on..ooor i decided to clean up one of the 15x7's on my car and this is how it turned out.3ca25f91.jpg
i could probably find two 15x8's of those than finding another 14x6 and have some more grip and less side wall..and still go with some poverty caps and a great look what you guys think?
oh yeah forgot to say these are also stamped GM

That looks like a Chevelle/Camaro/El Camino sport wheel. Had them on my 76 Malibu Classic. Great looking wheel, and with the center caps/trim rings they look so cool. (I think they look stunning in silver, but you can basically paint them to match your car body because of the offsetting chrome accents. My Dad bought our Malibu back in 77 (4-door 'colonade' pillared hardtop) with all the gizmos and do dads. The only car he ever bought with power options and A/C.
Anyway, back to your thread. Any chance you can have a wheel shop straighten the wheel for you? If you have a matching set, I would certainly try that option if there are no other wheels of the vintage you need easily available. You do have a knack for cleaning them wheels up nice!
The center caps
BTW, Tamraz sells a complete set of wheels, trim rings, and caps for about 325.00
77 El Camino

That works really good too. The choice of wheel (style/color/size etc) is really personal and you won't have any shortage of people who will suggest what you should do. Just keep in mind, you will ultimately decide what is best for you and your car. Don't create a wheel combo or color for someone else, do it for your own eye and appreciation. That said, I can tell by your enthusiasm with clean up and restoration on the wheels that no matter which way you go, it will be done right. Always be prepared for those who agree with your choice, and those who don't (don't get defensive when they 'show a lack of good judgement' by opening their mouths and starting with " I woulda done that different"...just say "Thanks, but I like it just the way it is". Then smile and walk - or drive - away )
What color is your car going to be when done? That's something to consider in the overall scheme of things. IMO, design your car, then decide on wheels. If you already have an end goal in sight, even better. Create your virtual car on the PC and start fooling around with colors and wheels. Lots of fun!
edit: BTW, I just noticed the gold vette in the back of the split window one also has the sport wheels like the one you cleaned up.

i figured for now since my car is bright yellow and so is every other inch of paintable stuff on my car it might not look too bad going with the black wheel and chrome centers and some T/A's or indy 500's or whichever tire i finally pick. BUT i'm probably going to experiment and go nuts with media blasting and repainting since i've got way too much time on my hands(work is very slow) until i find the perfect color combo car pic is in the sig so if anybody has any ideas i'm up for trying anything! accept driving my car now because the front tires are ridiculously cracked and i don't feel like dying yet lol, as for the virtual car where do i go for that program? i might just have to "barrow" my brothers mac book pro lol

ok so i found the right wheels..i just need to blast them, prime, paint, and buy the centers i think the blacked out tires are perfect with the bright yellow that the PO decided to paint it.
