Debating about what tires to mount on 14x6 steelies, to be adorned with dog dishes, for my F-85 4-4-2. Coker lists 225/70R14's as being able to fit on a 6.00-8.00 rim, which would give me a nice 26.4" overall height. 215/70R14's would only be 25.9". I suspect that 14x7 wheels would be a better choice, but I just painted my 14x6 R-codes, and they look goooooooooood! Don't want to go 15" wheels, either.
So, despite what the Coker website shows, is 225/70R14 too big for a 14x6? Will I squirm down the road?

 

14x6 wheels will be fine.

 

I had 225/70-14 on a 14x6 rim in the rear and 215/70-14 in the front of mine when I first got it. They fit fine.

 

My project car has those tires and those rims.

 

225/70/14 Koker Firestone Red Lines on 14X7 steel wheels run fine on my 66 Cutlass. I run them at 34 lbs.

Thanks, all. Again, primarily interested in whether I needed to go from 14x6 to 14x7 to better accommodate 225\70R14's. I'll stay 14x6.

 

I had 235/70-14 on 6" rims on a 1966 full size. Had no problems.
