65-70 Big Car 15x8 wheels?

My 66 Starfire front tires are squealing & old. Currently running 15x7, but since I need new tires, I'm thinking about going to 15x8 all around for slightly better handling with a factory look. 14x6 was factory, but I'm well past that already.

Do any of you do this? I'll need 15x8 on a 5x5 circle (not cutlass 4.75x5 circle). I like the SSI's, so if I could find them & center caps in a 5x5 15x8, that'd be great, but I think that's custom.

So I don't know where to buy the wheels. My mechanic said 15x8 are truck wheels. Suggestions? I've built some custom-ish 15" Olds 3-bar spinner wire hubcaps I'd like to reuse, so just a factory style wheel and those 'caps will fit would be great.

Also I'd like to get a sidewall profile to get to more or less the outer diameter that Olds did in '66 to get the speedo to read right. I think this means low profile, but I'm still ignorant about tires after 35 years. Sorry...

On top of that wide low profile business, I'll be adding a 3/4" whitewall for a period look. There's a company in NC that does that, so no problem there. Anyway, looking to share your wisdom, suggestions?

The only factory steel 15x8 wheel in a 5x5 pattern is the Chevy truck rally wheels. They will accept a full hubcap like any other steel wheel which sounds like the way you want to go with the 15" 3 bar wire hubcaps you mention. These wheels are easy to find and are a direct bolt on 5x5 pattern. The largest plain steelie wheel was only made up to 15x7 from the factory.
