64 cutlass wheel size

Im hoping to run something like the Rocket Strike 17x8 wheels (if the nationwide backorder ever clears up) on my 64 cutlass with a 255/40 17. That should be a 25" tall tire and 10 wide. The wheel is listed as 4.5 " backspacing.

on a 8" wheel would a 4.5 backspace, equal 0.5" positive offset?

I have UMI coil overs and tubular control arms which "should" be similar to the global west setup. I have read on motor trend that with the global west suspension you can fit up to a 275 on a 17" x 9.5" wheel front and rear but that is with a 6" backspace but this feels ridiculous

Im defiantly going for looks first, tire availability second and width third...

Ok I have narrowed down my choices to two wheels:

The parts place has a 15x7 black steel wheel with 4.75 BS or +19mm offset.

American Racing has their vintage looking wheel in a 17x9 5.47" BS or +12mm offset

I Like both of these wheels, but with the 15" steel wheel there are very few tire options.
Has anyone run either of these? I would like to run something like a 235 to a 255 tire.

Ive actually got the steel wheels on order, but they are still a month out from shipping.

It’s close but I prefer the look of the steel wheels. Especially when they are color matched like on your car. These come in powder coated black and that works for me with the dark green paint I like.

Right now I can find radial t/a s cooper cobras and a milestar tire in a size that would work. I’m agnostic as far as the raised white letters but I really wasn’t impressed with the t/a s on my 70.
