Correct steel wheels for 70 Vista

Hi everyone.

Wondered what the code is that's stamped on original 1970 Vista Cruiser wheels. I know the VC had heavy duty wheels compared to the cars. Also, are they going to be 7" wheels or could they be 6" ones?

And, will these be the same wheels that were on other GM wagons? What about other cars? It would be nice to have a broad base to search. I'd just use truck wheels but want to stick with 14" wheels.

Thanks much.

I'll bet the wheels I got w/my 70 Vista parts car are original. I can check them for #'s and width, etc if you don't get a answer from someone who knows.

Just going off memory here - I believe the Vista wheels are "LR" code, and 14" x 6". I was told if the car was equipped with some combination of big block, heavy duty cooling, and towing package, it received the heavy duty 14" x 7" "XT" wheels. I have never been able to confirm XT wheels on an original Vista Cruiser however.

This information is in the assembly manual.

Thanks you guys. I don't have the assembly manual, all I can find is some IPC that lists the F85 exc wagon as 14x6 JJ heavy duty, and the wagon 14x6. That sounds backward to me.

Greg if you can find the code on your wheels I'd be grateful, and I'll keep looking for the assembly manual to confirm Ctls's theories. By the way I'm from Park Forest.

They'd be on the inside of the wheel, not on the offset but on the wide part.

I have 5 wheels and they're all blue so I assume they are original. Outside by the valve stem they're stamped 26 LR.
Inside is a upside down 25(compared to the other letters) then made in USA, 14 x 6- next line is N 3 a circled F mi over 9 then 810....
I don't know what these stampings mean...

Thanks Greg. The LN by the valve stem must substantiate what Ctls442 said. I'll be on the lookout.

That's LR- I will sell these if you're interested. $150 for all 5. Shipping might be crazy though.. I can check them out better and get some pics if you're interested. PM me if you are. Thanks, Greg.

Thanks Greg. I meant LR. A buck fifty sounds great but I don't know about shipping. I'll have to look into that. I wonder if I flew up there if I could check them as bags.

I think now a days you have to pay for anything extra on a flight! I'll see what I can find out about sending them also.
