Staggered station wagons line up

Just sharing few cool pictures of staggered wagons. The first 2 were taken this week at the Nat'l, and the last one was from the 2001 zone show:

I do see two Custom Cruisers in there. You don't see those very often anywhere, but if you're going to see any at all, I assume the OCA Nationals will be the place.

Towards the back left, one red, with wood grain, and the other yellow, right behind it, in this photo. I wonder if the yellow one is the one I sold to a fellow in Illinois last fall. I think he was planning to take it to the show, it looks like a '73, and I can't imagine there's too many yellow ones out there (but who knows).

Here's what mine looked like.

I really like the wagons, even the Custom Cruisers have grown on me.
Thanks for sharing these pics

Thank you for sharing. I've got a soft spot for wagons and have a 1964 & 1971 that I'm collecting parts for to restore in the future. I'm more familiar with the 64-72 but enjoyed seeing the tails of late 50's wagons in the lineup too!

That is the most wagons I think I've ever seen at Nats.

Love me some long roofs...

Thanks. Actually, I don't think it's the one I owned after all. I installed rear speakers in the side trim pieces on both sides of the third seat area. I hadn't intended to cut into that trim, but the original owner had put a third speaker on the passenger side way back in the mid-70s when installed a CB radio. Figuring there was a already a cutout on one side that I didn't have a good way of covering up, I figured I'd make lemonade out of lemons, add a speaker to the driver's side, and have a four-speaker setup. My car originally came with an AM-only radio and only front speakers, and I wanted stereo sound front and back.

Anyway, here's a photo I took when I was mounting the speakers. If you look carefully at your second photo, you don't see these speakers in the rear area. Unless this is the car I sold and the next owner replaced those panels, which I would guess he didn't do, I would guess this is not the car I had.

You didn't happen to see the license plate and note where the car was from, did you?

Increasing Longroofs............

Ali: That picture from the Zone Show waayyyy back keeps popping up. We need to redo that, as there are a lot more longroofs than there were then. Next year's Zone Show in April??? Rick Winn has one, and Mike Payton is doing paint on a '65. Hope next year we get to see Heath's awesome wagon, along with his '92 CC. Might be a pretty good lineup.

Rick Duden and I have have two. His is running a driving right now. Mine has a ways to go. More long roofs have popped up in this part of the country in the past few years.

Sweet, I also dig the wagons. Had a 70 like the yellow w/faux wood trim way back when with a 455. Rescued a 76 with a J head 455, sold to a member over in Georgetown a few years ago.

Nice group of pictures. My older brothers and I owned a used lot and would take a station wagon of "drivers" when we went to buy cars.We usually had an Olds or Buick station wagon around and that's what we used on these trips.I ,being the youngest ,usually ending up riding the back seat(backwards for 75 to 150 miles) so my memories of these wagons were a little tarnished. It's more fun seeing where you are going than where you've been. Growing up, I had a stepmom at age 15 with a 68 Buick 400 Sportswagon, IMS.
Never got to drive it though. I miss my 70, no pics either.

I believe there was a member wanting the picture of post 20 for a screen saver recently. Can't remember who it was.

Thanks for all the pix, 1969Hurst.

I had 3 wagons at the show, and 2 in the lineup, The '61 F85 and the '92 Hurst/Hurse.

Great shots, thanks again.
