'50 horn button install

My 50 tudor sedan is finally on the road and the final details are being worked out. The last item is the horn button. It came apart easy and I didn't take photos 'cause it was straightforward. First mistake.

Can anyone help me with the proper sequence of parts to make the horn work?

I have replaced the stock column with a Flaming River unit because I replaced the Olds suspension with a Ford Crown Vic police unit but the guts at the top where the steering wheel attaches are the same. What I cannot figure out is how the wheel bolts to the shaft with the horn switch parts using the foam spacers. What allows the horn ring to pivot to make ground contact to sound the horn?

A diagram would be very helpful. Anybody?

Thanks for your help.

I don't know if 1955 is close enough to be the same. But I've got the step by step photos of the steering wheel & horn setup on my photo bucket site. Check out the photos to see if this helps. John

The cushion or rubber ring is attached to the copper ring that the small button makes contact to. Then it fits against the center of the steering wheel. If I'm following your question right here's a few pictures of it going together. John

horn

Thanks John---

I am missing the cup gizmo you have your left thumb on in the photos and that may be the problem I am having. I'll spend some more time on it and I may have to fabricate a means of securing the wheel that also allows the horn ring to move to make ground contact. As it is now, when the wheel is tightened the horn ring is also tight.

As I said I am trying to adapt the Flaming River column to the Olds wheel...

Sorry for the delay in reply---I was out of town for a few days.
