Time to pull the engine

Got an engine stand that can handle my 394. All gaskets in shop to rebuild motor and trans from gaskets to seals.

guess it is time to pull a big @$$ motor and trans today!

I think the complete engine is over 700 lb. I recommend fabricating a front support from the engine stand legs up to the water pump, etc. so all the weight is not hanging off the back. I seem to remember it has a couple odd size soft plugs, something like 11/32" that can be hard to find.

That '59 394 is probably closer to 750 pounds, use an engine stand that has at least a capacity of 1000 pounds.

The 1960 Oldsmobile service manual i have say motor dressed weighs 770. Stands rated for 1200.
