Thanks

Maybe this will help for a 4GC. I think the 55 was model or part number 7007000? How to measure float level begins around page 17, then the specific measurement by carb number is listed in the tables in the back of the manual:

Hey Russ, thanks. I was surprised that I didn't get much of a response to my request. You are right it is a 700700. I did get the specs and parts from Mike;s Carb in Washington, but thanks for the manual copy.
I have a '50 coupe with a '55 324 engine in it. Last week I was on a 150 mile trip with a lot of other vintage cars here in Southern Oregon. On the way home the engine started performing badly It lost some power and would stumble when accelerating. I didn't know if it was ignition or carburetion. After eliminating ignition, I took the Holley 4 Jet apart and here is what I found. The secondary needle and seat were frozen closed so no fuel was in the secondary float chamber. The primary float was adjusted to only fill half of it's float chamber. And the worst problem was that the accelerator pump rubber cup seal was hard and had no taper to it. In fact a chunk of it fell of as I was removing it. Also, the rubber top plunger seal had a piece missing from it allowing some gas to seep out of the lid.
I am sure that these problems were precipitated by the Ethanol in the gas.
The rubber cup seal I received from Mike's has a nice taper to it and is impervious to ethanol fuel. Both parts were only about $10 and I would suggest that anyone with one of the carburetors, buy the parts and have them on hand for future use.
I've attached some photos of both the old parts and new parts.

Thanks for that info about Mike's. I believe the effects of ethanol on the carb soft components has been a topic here, and hearing about a vendor source for a solution is always good news. Can you share the part numbers from Mike's?
