Best Home Car Lift
I have a 57 Olds 98 convertible and was wondering if any of you have had any experience with any lifts? My garage isn't tall enough for a two post or four post lift, but I've seen a scissor lift by bend pack that looks like it would be better than jack stands. The car is pretty long so I'm not sure if it would even fit. What do you home mechanics use?

what do you have for ceiling clearance? if you get a 2 post with a drive over plate they are considerably shorter.i had one in a shop with 10 ' ceiling.a 4 post drive on isn't much good for repairs or anything but storing .i've had good luck with forward lifts.jc

I'm on a Fox Body Group on Facebook. Mostly they seem to be a bunch of kids with no money and they do a lot work in self storage units...lol
They seem to like this style of two post lift although I don't know what brand names are any good

I use these, you get about 2+ feet off of the floor, they are called Quickjack, come in different sizes....I would think with a '57 you would need the larger size. Many vendors on the internet.

I looked at them. When you say different sizes I thought they took up the same space, but were capable of more weight. The car is a little less than 5,000lbs so I think one rated for 6,000 would be ok.

I bought mine at bestbuyautoequipment too, AL2-9K ACX 9,000 lbs. Had it now for 5 years no issues. I bought and use 2 poll jacks when I'm tugging on something while underneath the car-just to make sure!
