1952 Olds 88 Doors/Trunk Key the Same?
Hey guys. I have no door keys. I still have the ignition switch, pulled because it was worn out. The key from it does not unlock my drivers door. I pulled my trunk lock today. It has a number 8506 stamped on it.
Any one know if the trunk and door lock is the same key for 1952 Olds? I am going to take it to the locksmith tomorrow. Thanks, Robert

I think that in most of these old GM cars , the doors and ignition shared the same octagon shaped key.
The trunk lid and glove box shared a pear shaped key .
But , after 60 plus years , some of those locks may have been replaced .

Thanks Charlie . The original keys for my '55 Pontiac are just that. The hexagonal key fits my ignition and the door lock. Haven't tried the pear shaped one yet. With the Oldsmobile, the pear shaped key was all I got with it. It was jammed into the ignition and worked for a bit. Then would only go from "on" to "start". Replaced the ignition switch. The pear shaped key is a no go with the trunk lock. Maybe I will go ahead and take the stock ig tumbler to the locksmith also. See what he thinks. I can lock all other three doors with the bakelite through the hole screw on locking button/shaft thingy.
If the ig tumbler # is different I will have that key made too.

Hi Robert
On my 1953 Olds the pear shaped goes to thetrunk only and the octagon shaped to the ignition and doors, don’t know aboutglove box.
I believe that a lock smith can make keyfrom the number stamped on the lock cylinder.

Beautiful car Andreas.
I have already replaced the ignition switch as it was jammed using the key that came with the car. I suspected that key was "close" to the og key.
Hoping that the ig switch was original, I took the tumbler to the locksmith.
Had good luck. The key he made does in fact operate my door locks. $38.
Very happy to have it. Robert
