A site named oldengine.com has a very well written article on 6v to 12v conversion .He used the 10SI GM alternator (which is a three wire and a 1 wire regular and tells in detail where each wire goes. Very interesting article that tell the advantages of what necessary items needs changing and the ones that are a matter of choice. Good luck, Larry

Wiring is the easiest part. I swapped a 105 amp CS130 for the stock generator and regulator in my 62 F-85 wagon with no problems whatsoever. The issue is bracketry. In my case, the 1963 215s came with alternators, so I used that bracket instead of the generator brackets and it was a bolt-on. I did swap the pulley from the generator onto the CS130 to both get rid of the serpentine pulley and to have the correct v-belt width.

Your problem is that the 303 never came with an alternator, so you will need to either modify your generator brackets or find aftermarket ones.

If you get a factory bracket from a 1963 or 1964 full sized Olds it will take the alternator and should be reasonably easy to modify for the 303. I used one on my 324. If you're also doing air conditioning, get one from an A/C car and it will accept the A6 compressor.

Thanks for the input. I will go with an alternator as It will have a built in regulator. Wiring looks pretty easy.

I put a one wire alternator on my 54. I know there are folks on here that don't like the one wire but I have had no problems with it and it sure makes an easy installation. Since I have AC, an electric fan and an electric fuel pump I used a 130 amp alternator. The mounting bracket it pretty simple and you can make a new one out of some flat stock. If you can find one for a 63-64 as Ozzie mentioned, that would be the best way to go. Make a post in the parts wanted section.
