Vacuum / 12v

Yea Gidday from New Zealand
I was lying in bed at 3am thinking 🤯🤯🤯 as I am about to put an
electric wiper motor into our 58 Olds dynamic.
If there was such a switch it would save a whole heap of hassle if you wish to modify certain parts of your ride to 12volt.
The switch / module / sender would operate off Vacuum using your existing controls .....when vacuum is applied it makes a 12volt circuit complete to operate say the 12volt wipers 🤔🤔🤔🤔
I can find switches that are 12v and when power applied it operates a vacuum circuit but not the other way round.
Is there such a thing ????? Can one be built???
Love ta hear your thoughts as these switches could be up under the dash and everything would look original

Your car is already 12 volt, no need to use a vacuum pump converter to operate a already 12 volt system (Newport) that I ganantee you can't tell the difference from stock. Try the Newport wiper system it's a easy reliable fix and unless you are doing a concours restoration doubtful any judge will notice any differance especally in NZ. I've never lost a point on my wiper motor at some pretty picky shows and concourses. Ask around and see what others think.... Me thinks you lose too much sleep thinking about these things when you could be cutting ZZZZ's.... So do I at times.... Tedd

Switch

Yea Gidday Tedd
thanks for the quick reply ......yup the car is 12v .... me newport wiper is on route to NZ as we speak 😊😊😊 👍 me 12v starter bits the same .
Our 58 is not a show car as quite a bit has been modernized which We like for more reliability ....we do how ever want to keep the dash etc looking original.... e.g no plastic ***** or oddball switches .
The idea of this is so I can keep wiper switch **** original and still operate the newport wiper motor ......this is on a 58 which has the wiper switch in a half round chrome moulding at the side of your left knee. On that note if somebody has adapted a newport switch to a 58 I would luv ta know how you did it so I dont lay awake at night 😊😊😊😁

google VOES (vacuum operated electrical switch) I think Harley Davidson uses one. It may not carry enough current to operate the wiper motor, but if you use it to trigger a relay it may work for you.
