turn signal cancel cam
I hope I'm not over doing it with all the questions lately!
My turn signals don't shut off after making a turn.
I pulled the steering wheel off, and must be missing something?
Here's a pic...All I did was pull the horn ring off and then the steering wheel...
What's missing here?

On the later wheels there are two circular spring clips with a single turn that are wound opposite to each other that sit on each side of the centre tab and cancel the sig when the wheel returns...they are fully visible and yours are not --hope this helps...

Are you sure the car has auto canceling turn signals? From what I understand that was an option in the 50's and didn't become standard until the early 60's.
But I'm just a "young pup" so please don't take this as gospel.

I asked on here before and the general consensus was that they do auto cancel.
You can see in my pic there's 2 "hooks" on the upper and lower left side of the column that looks like it would hold something

Just stumbled upon your spring, clumsy me, group 2.916, PN 1929964... a flat spring with a hook at each end and a 'W' shape in the middle. It might have become dislodged and dropped down the inside ot the steering tube... sits on the right side of your pic with the square edge up against the 'W' part of the spring, hooks on ends facing inward... Upon further investigation (actually I looked at the other spring you are missing) ...so the cancel spring is round wire and sits on the left side of the pic with the two ends of the spring engaged in those two holes you mentioned Group 2.910 PN 1929955- book calls it a [Spring, release coil 1955-57 all] the other flat spring for the right side is a detent spring...
