I'm getting back to working on my 55 Super 88 and unfortunately due to the passage of time, lack of photos, and things getting shuffled around, I don't remember how the upper part of the trim that fits on the front edge of the hood attaches (photo). I'm aware that Fusick's carries the clips used to attach the Y shaped extensions on either side of the grill, but I'm not finding any info regarding the hood trim.Additionally I found the driver's side vent window regulator has one of the mounts broken off. An online search only shows regulators for tri-five Chevy. They look identical to the one from my Olds with the exception my driver's side regulator matches the Chevy passenger side regulator. Is it possible that Chevy and Olds mounted them differently and they would be interchangeable?
You might have better luck looking at a Buick for window regulators as the glass and door parts are the same as a supper 88 if you match up the doors, two doors and four doors have to be the same as your car. I don't remember the nose chrome being a problem, if you have the clips I'm sure how the chrome attaches will be obvious, only one way it will fit....Tedd
My driver's side vent window regulator has a missing handle crank shaft.
I carefully looked at all the potential replacements on Ebay for tri five Chevys, Buicks, Pontiacs et al.
I decided to take a chance on a reproduction for the tri five Chevys that looks very similar to the 1956 Base 88 two door sedan I have. The seller accepts returns so I decided to try and see if it is a fit. It has two screws to attached to the door frame at the bottom of the regulator and the worm gear is in front of the shaft that is missing on my factory regulator. There are two screws on the top of the regulator very similar in appearance to the factory regulator. The reproduction item I'm waiting for holds the crank shaft with screws instead of rivets as the factory regulators do. So I may be able to add the shaft to my original regulator if it doesn't bolt up.
I noticed that Ebay had one other reproduction tri five Chevy regulator that looks like the one I bought. \/\/\/

I just got it this morning.
They are close but: bass ackwards.
The vertical pillars with screws on the top of the cast case holding the whole mechanism are 1/2" taller, and the cast tube that holds the worm gear is on the opposite side, (rear) of the crank; where my 2 door sedan has the cast tube on the front of the crank, (driver's or left side). Some eBay sellers have the wrong photos associated with those items, (the one I purchased had that issue), which was very confusing, the passenger side of the tri 5 Chevys are prolly a similar layout with the tube holding the worm gear to the front of the crank, (except the height of the vertical pillars). That said: I bet the worm gear would turn the window in the wrong direction, (speculation on my part).
Due to the screws holding the crank shaft on the rear of the new tri 5 Chev regulator, I was able to remove the crank shaft.
The crank shaft from the new regulator interfaced with the factory worm gear in my regulator, so I tested it on the bench and I think it will work.
The previous owner had taken off the factory back plate holding the crank shaft and had left enough of the original rivets so I could reattach the back plate to hold the new crank in place.
I will install it once I finish this post and let you know if the rebuild works.

I got lucky. The factory regulator was in fairly good shape; and the new crank fit and interfaced reasonably well. A bit spendy, (like the parts for the rest of this restoration), but: success!!
I wish you luck on your project. If you need the entire regulator, you will need to find one specifically for your vehicle, IMHO. Tri-5 Chevys will not work.
I don't know for sure, but the hard top takes a different windshield than the standard, or it does in a 55. The contour of the roofline is different ,that should change the side glass shape. Someone with a Hollander should double-check this out before you do any purchasing of expensive parts....Tedd

The question was just curiosity as my gamble with the new tri-5 Chevy regulator from China paid off, (as I stated above).
My 1956 2 door sedan is fairly complete, but as my first experience with a 67 year old car, research for replacement parts is a time-consuming process, (as I'm sure you know).
