Slowly progressing forward

Finally got my radiator back yesterday after a few months at the shop waiting for the OEM style core to be made, looks great, heater core clean and tested with no leaks. Exhaust system mocked up, engine now runs but I couldn’t let it go for long without a radiator so hopefully I can find the time in the next few weeks to get it fully installed, filled and running!!

Very nice. Is this a factory air car? It looks to have 4 groove pulleys on the water pump and a factory fan shroud.

Yes!! Good eye!! I still need to get the factor balancer re-vulcanized but I had a good 2 groove pulley so I could do some testing. I can’t believe the size of the evaporator!!

When I had my 54, I had Damper Dudes rebuild the balancer. They did a great job. That was several years ago and I don't remember the cost.

I think I’m going to use them as well, they have great reviews and their prices look reasonable.

Damper Dudes did mine three years ago. Really a great improvement. Cost then was $173.00 plus shipping.

You better insure that 4-groove damper. Those things are not cheap if you can even find one.

Yes, will insure it for a good amount!! From NY to CA, I think if I ship through USPS and use priority, the trip to California is on an airplane which greatly reduces the amount of times the package will change hands, but as we all know, anything is possible.

Just out of curiosity, how close does that green paint in the first few photos differ from stock? It’s Oliver tractor green from Runnings, really forgiving paint too, I degreased the block after the rebuild, hit it with a blowtorch to sweat out whatever moisture was left and let the paint fly. I went a little too heavy in a couple spots but the paint leveled out pretty well.

Looks good to me, but pictures on a computer can be deceiving. The yellow lettering also looks good... Tedd

I can't take credit for the yellow lettering, i bought the stick on type from Fusick, very easy to install.

If anyone is interested, One Shot Lettering enamel # 130 Primrose is a spot on match for the yellow. Most good automotive paint stores carry it in as little as 1/4 pint sizes...Tedd

Is it 3 or 4 groove pulleys for the AC water pump?
I thought it was 3...

Its a 3 groove pulley at the water pump and at the crank. 2 belts running the ac/generator and a single for the power steering pump.
