Service manuals

My 55 Super 88 came with an Owner Manual and a Maintenance Manual. Is there another service/repair manual that I should get to help me figure out how to fix a few things? Or is the Maintenance Manual the whole enchilada?

Is it the factory 1955 Oldsmobile Service Manual? Divided into sections covering each of the car's systems (Rocket engine, suspension, clutch/transmission, electrical, body etc)?

If you have that, it's as good as you'll find. There may be a supplemental manual or two for things like HydraMatic and Treadle-Vac power brakes.

It’s the factory 1955 Oldsmobile Maintenance Manual PS 53-14 with the color pictures for wiring diagrams as is not a reprint. It has 15 sections starting with General Information and ending with Chassis Sheet Metal. I looked online and I don’t find anything for sale called Service Manual. I think we’re talking about the same book. Thanks for the reply.

That is the whole enchilada. Should have Treadle- Vac info all brakes and hydromantic stuff also. The only thing short would be the convertible top assembly supplement but doubtful you will need that....Tedd

Also doubtful if you will need it, but the Factory AC (CAC) was also a separate supplement in 1955.

You’re right. I need neither of those. But thanks for the reply.

What is that Tedd?
It's part of the factory manual, right?
There is also the "Body by Fisher - Service News"

Dave there is also the "body by Fisher - Service News"
I found it pretty useful as it explained how to deal with things that are obvious for the pro guy... which I am not.
Check ebay,
It's for a 4 door Holiday, but still useful if you have a hardtop 88 or S88

Now if you really want "the whole enchilada", add the 1955 Oldsmobile Technical Service Bulletin set and the 1955 Service Guild Training Manual set to your library. Both very handy to have. You'll find them on ebay in various stages of completeness and prices.

I have a complete set of both for my '56 and I use them.
