Pictures of '56 Olds 98

Finally, I was able to get to creating a Photobucket account and am able to post pictures of a 1956 Olds 98 factory A/C car that will be having a chapter in my life in the not too distant future. Sorry for the delay in posting them. Hopefully now that I can post pictures and things I can help out a little more on the forums. As for the car, it is currently undergoing a replacement of frost plugs and engine gaskets at the other end of the country.

cool ride. I just ran across one of those in a junk yard/estate sale here in north Georgia. unfortunatly it is too far gone to rebuild as it has been there for 40 years or more. good luck and enjoy it, love the fifties Oldsmobiles.

Thanks, it is owned by a good and long time friend of mine, he has asked me to help to get it in order by way of other decent and old car loving garages out West for a cross-country drive home this summer. He always lets me take care of his old cars, lets me drive them for periods of time, for I truly appreciate the privilege. Too bad the one you found went to seed. Fortunately this one led a fairly sheltered life, and save for a back seat with torn upholstery and stuffing showing, it is decent, body, frame and floor thoroughly solid after inspection at the garages. It does need a tinted windsheild for the old one is badly de-laminated on the right side by the pillar.

Richard and Pat, thanks, I can hardly wait to see the car in person. Another friend, Barry, is helping to get the car to the garages trusted by the old car groups out West. Here is a link to but one of the movies he has put up on his channel about the car: His channel is monarch1957

yea I wish the one I found was better. I was out on an old property that the owner was a hoarder and would not let any on the property. he died and the family is selling everything. I saw around 400 cars and trucks mostly 40's and 50's with a few newer. trying to buy a 63 cutlass with the 215 aluminum motor and buckets and center console. not sure what I would do with it but hate to see it go to the crusher. I am going there saturday and will try and get some pics.

You never know what will come into your life in the way of an old car. The '56 I posted here was found on Craigslist I believe, while the body is very nice, and solid, a lot of mechanical work has been needed. But that is generally easier then dealing with rust issues. Too bad the one you found has rust, but with work, can be repaired. Too bad the hoarder would not share or let go of any of the cars before they went to seed. The '63 Cutlass sounds like a nice venture, hope it works out, and look forward to the pictures. Howie
