New Oldsmobile Gas Tanks will be fabricated!

I am getting the information that Fusick is giving orders to build new gas tanks for 56 Oldsmobile and those cars that used the same tanks!!!
Estimated arrival will be in Spring 2013!!
As far as I understand, they will be as the originals, same material, dimensions etc
Excellent news for the Olds community!

Who is making them for '56's? I thought other years would of been more popular to repop like 57

I just did a check on USA Parts Supply, NAPA, Rock Auto and Spectra Premium. Couldn't find a 56 tank anywhere. So if Fusick is going to make them, more power to them. Is this 56 tank a universal fit for a lot of models and model years?

I could see them being almost the same for '54-'56 with the tank neck in the same location.

Believe I was once told the 55-56 filler necks are slightly different, tanks not interchangable although you could probably swap out the necks. I'll see if they're listed in my Motor Manual. But to anyone repopping a tank this should be a minor detail and hopefully they can make several years from the base tank.

I agree, nobody makes original Olds tanks based on my research - a few Buick ones that supposedly will fit are out there.

I've heard this rumor from Fusick for a while, and I know he is intending on making them...I need at least 2 for '55s -

Sorry guys. I went back and checked the two links I had. I bought a tank for a 50 Olds in March. They no longer have the tanks. I am sure they probably got them for the same manufacturer. They had drawings with measurements for the filler neck. They listed the same tank for Olds and Buick and maybe Caddy. There is nothing this old on either website now for the 50's cars.

Just checked my book, 54 & 55 used the same tank 564053 and 56 used a different tank 568219.

So, you see, I was right! There are no tanks out there to buy, unless you settle for a buick tank...

Still early in the game my friend. You'll have to wait and see if the information you got about Fusick production is right. A good repro will likely be a spectra tank. Otherwise you might find you're getting an offshore 'authentic' part that may or may not fit.
