Light switch removal 1941 - Help please

I am removing the dashboard to restore it and got stuck with the headlight switch on the L corner of the dash. I loosened the large nut behind the dash holding a sleeve that keeps switch tight but after doing so there is something else that prevents removal of the ****. Please see the pictures below that I took today

The large nut is loose and the sleeve comes forward but the metal rod attached to the **** not coming off and is all sealed

Closed up photo showing the same

The thin long metal rod ends on the switch body and is all sealed. No screws or nuts to loose the mechanism.

Please advise how to remove the **** so I can proceed with my dashboard removal. Thank you

Manuel

I was thinking the same thing. Here's a 70s era headlight switch that shows the groove on the end for the retaining clip:

Thanks for the tips leftlaneonly and Fun71!

Went under dash again and could identify a steel spring located inside the switch, not visible unless you are a contorsionist. I could feel it though so got the camera and started shooting blind shots and there it is. In this 41 Oldsmobile you have to press the spring from the center of the car to the L and it releases the rod ,which is secured there through the groove where the spring seats.

These are the photos I could get

Taken from the center. Arrow shows the steele spring and the yellow rod represents where the light rod goes.

I am pressing the spring outwards. Very challenging to take this photo with just one hand.

There are 4 grooves at the end of the rod. When installing I could feel it fits on the first one (closer to the ****).

Thank you both of you for your comments. Manuel
