How does she sound?

Here's a quick video of my '53 idling after a long drive. How does the old 303 sound (bearing in mind she has 108k miles on her )?

The link doesn't link. Try going to the video and copying and pasting the link as it appears exactly on the address in the taskbar. If you copy it and paste it, it should work.

It seems to be running very well. I hear a little bit of valve train noise which is common with one of these engines with some miles on it. I have never seen an air cleaner like that.

It was made by Fram and was installed prior to my dad buying the car in 1976. It uses a replaceable paper filter element. Seems to work but it drafts via an airgap around the bottom so I would imagine it's drawing warmer air off the top of the block which has to hurt performance. I have the original oil bath air cleaner and might look into modifying it to accept a paper element.

Is that the original shroud? Looks like it's made out of Bakelite?

The fan shroud is metal and, yes, as far as I know - or can tell - it is the original. The paint on the shroud matches the paint on the radiator, but I don't know if that's factory or if they were both repainted at some point.

Is that a batwing like they used on 55 & 56? If so, take a look at this thread.

Yes I believe it is (large round cleaner with half-circle shaped openings on either side that point forward). That link is exactly the information I would need to convert - thank you!

Thanks. By the way, love your gear-grabbing video. Looks like a fun car!
