59 rocket fuel pump question

I inherited a 34 street rod with a 1959 rocket 372. I am trying to understand what the two “air hoses” are for that originate at the fuel pump? They are not hooked to anything just lying on the intake. I am guessing the thought was to use them to power the vacuum wipers, but they don’t seem to have much vacuum. In fact with the engine running one hose pushes air and the other has very little vacuum. Any help would be appreciated.

The top of the fuel pump is a vacuum pump. It may have bad valves in it.

What he said, it's probably toast but that might be a blessing that it isn't working. Go electric with a Newport Engendering unit and never be without wipers again. I think Newport has conversions for both 34 Ford and 57 Oldsmobile. You should be able to work something out one way or the other..... Tedd
