'57 Super 88 Transmission Leak

Back with another question. I now have about 500 miles on my fresh engine. All is well with it but I have a trans leak that is being a problem. It is leaking around the Torus cover or what most would call the flywheel. The Inside of the bellhousing is dry. With the inspection cover off you can see fluid weep between the housing and the flywheel. About 50 miles ago I pulled the trans and replaced the square cut "oring". I tightened the nuts to the factory spec. Also tightened them in stages crisscrossing them as I went so it would seal evenly.. All seemed well until I walked by it a few days ago and seen fluid had ran out from under the car. It has been parked for several months while I worked on something else. Has new hoses on it also. It is leaking again. Have I missed something? Should I tighten the nuts more? This is getting old. Any one want to take it off my hands? Thanks in advance. Helpful group here.
