Can someone tell me if there's a difference in the door handles (front and/or rear) on the four-door sedans vs. the two-door cars? I would like the option of buying new repops vs. paying to replate the four handles on my '56, but Fusick only catalogs handles for the two-door cars by description. Wondering what the difference is and why they won't fit a four door car, at least the front two doors?
Olds really made this difficult . There were a total of 10 different door handles made for 54 thru 56 cars ,
There was a total of three different types of front handles , and two different types of rear door handles .
The ones that Fusick has only fit two door hardtops and convertibles .
The differences are probably in the curves where the handles meet the body .
Below are a couple of pages from the parts book .
Conv = convertible
H.C.= hardtop coupe (2 door )
H.S.= hardtop sedan ( 4 door )
Lemoldsnut ( a member of this forum ) was parting out a couple of 54 thru 56 cars.
He is in dry , eastern Oregon . So he may have some pit - free door handles .
