56 headlight switch

Looking for a headlight switch for a 56. I am thinking of trying a different year if I can't find one reasonable.

I was going to say that '55 and '56 were the same but they made one especially for cars equipped with " autronic eye or self dimming headlights". Ebay has a universal 12 headlight switch (for 1956 Olds) that does have the rheostat built in for dimming your interior lights and it's only $18.00. The **** has a set screw where you take it off to install it through the dash. Larry

I'm not looking for new since I have seen most close to a hundred bucks.Just looking for a used one that works or if somebody has used another year or model for replacement. I know Fusick has them but too expensive for me.

Buick and possibly Pontiac may be the same. You might want to check that. Even Cadillac might work.

I have been looking at other models with no luck. Seems no one is parting out these cars any more. If a NOS wasn't over a hundred dollars I would go with those

The correct part number is 1995062 (group 2.485). Fits 55 and 56 without autronic eye. It has "062" stamped on it. I've seen references to 1995074 and 1995077, which are for 57's and 58's. They may fit as well. I couldn't find a cross reference to other GM's.

A member named (scharpp) was parting out '55 88 back in January 2015. You might want to PM him and see if he still has the headlight switch. Larry
