55 drivers side window

I have owned my 1955 Oldsmobile 88 two door sedan here in the UK for the last 18 years, travelled all over Europe without trouble. Late last year the driver's side window mechanism jammed in the up position and the window will not lower into open position any help to remedy the problem would be appreciated, have workshop manual but no schematic showing mechanism. Interior door panel has been removed but no access seems visible doI have to cut an access panel to facilitate a repair?

Welcome to the site! There should be one or two access panels held on with Phillips screws. It might have a tar like substance coating the edge, attached are a couple photos. The one with the panel still attached is a 1955 Olds 88 four door. The next photo with the openings is a 1954 2 door hardtop door. But I believe your sedan door should have something similar to these. John
