I bought this original 54-55? Olds Rocket fringed Silk/satin? 5ft Dealer banner years ago and I have never properly researched it. It has been safely stored rolled up but you can still see where it was folded for shipping I suppose. It is multi color silk screened and has mounting instructions printed on the opposite side (says "printed in USA"). You can see where it was originally mounted to the supplied but now missing header board.
A few minor stains but overall is superb shape for 66 years old. I think it is cool as hell.
Could anyone tell me the exact year and if it is rare? Have not found another online so far.
I think it is 54 based on the 185 HP Rocket Engine on the banner. That was the HP rating for the Super 88 and 98 in 54 and it bumped up to 202 in 55. In 1955 the standard 88 had 185 HP which was up from 170 in 54 but the engine on the banner has the 4 barrel carb and batwing air cleaner indicating it was for a Super 88 or 98.
