50 OLDS 88 in need of doors

I have a holiday coupe nd my doors are rusted from the bottom. id like to know if the doors from a coupe or a 2door sedan are the same? as on the holiday. or can anyone direct me to where I can find some solid doors. also does anyone know if the grill bars are made of pots metal? and can they be welded?

zeppizio, the Sedan doors will not work because they have the post at the back of window.I believe the door would would work off a '49 or '50 Chevrolet, or '49 or '50 Pontiac either Hardtop or Convertible.Maybe someone with a interchange book will chime in! Larry

Hollander shows 49-52 Chevrolet, 49-52 Pontiac hdtps and converts, 49=50 Olds hdtp and convert except 98's. Trim varies.

You might be money and time ahead to repair the doors you have in lieu of trying to purchase someone junk..
For the most part, any door from a convertible or hard top will have rust issues in the bottom part of the door. EMS, Cleveland, makes excellent patch panels for the Oldsmobile's..
The grille bars on the '49-50 Olds are pot metal, they can be welded by experienced welders..
There is one trick to welding pot metal, or for that matter any metal that has been chrome plated.. The chrome/nickle has to be chemically removed prior to welding.. The chrome/nickle can't be ground off of the metal.. Grinding will contaminate the pot metal causing the new chrome plating to fail..
Your best bet is to have the plating shop strip the chrome chemically and have their welder do the work..
I use Vern's Plating in El Segundo, CA for my plating.. The upper bar on my grille was broken, it turned out like new.. Bill
