1956 Power Antenna

I would like to find out what the original power antenna looked like on a 1956?
I often see offers of power antennas, but they seem to be brand new and it says "also fits 1956"..

Does anybody have a photo of the power antenna switch for a 1956? Seems that Fusick does not carry them...

Thanks for your kind help!

1956 power antenna

Here are pictures of the power antenna out of the 1956 Olds Parts book. 2 types were available. Parts for the second type may be easier to find. The antenna switch was used from 1953 thru 1956. It was similar to the other accessory switches.

Thanks for the information, question is, if such an antenna can still be found out there.
Also, I have no clue, what the switch looked like for that antenna..

Occasionally one pops up on that famous auction site - also the switches sometimes - big big dollars when they do come up

I've parted out a lot, and have scoped out many many more, and I've never seen one in the wild

See if this will work. I have been looking for a new old stock power antenna and switch for a friends 56 olds for over a year and not luck yet. Will most likely go with this and make some kind of switch fit the stock under dash location

Right, but that is a modern one.
I have a standard antenna on mine and I will only change if I ever find the vintage real power antenna. So, this is rather a hobby search than an obsession...

I found one on the 1955 4 door parts car I have. It was in the front fender. The previous owner cut out the dash area to use in a street rod he was building, so I don't have the dash switch. It looks like this car had some rare options, too bad it was cut up before I got it. Attached are photos of the power antenna. I figured it was rare but had/have no idea on a fair market value. My plans, when I had time was to take it apart and clean it before putting power to the motor. Then after I verified it worked or not I'd planned to put it on the often despised auction site. Well, when I don't know what a fair price is that seems to be the best place to market parts. If there's any views you'd like to see let me know and I can add more photos for you guys. I broke the drain hose at the bottom but have tried to be careful and not damage anything else. John

Difficult to say, I guess that the difference between a nice power antenna and scrap would be the functionality...
I have no idea, what a reasonable price would be...

I have the other type antenna but I'm still looking for parts for it like the antenna wire and the chrome piece that sits on the fender to make it fit. This is how the switch looks it should have three prongs one for up, one for down and the third for power(sorry for the blurry pic).
