1950 olds 88 model issue?
hi the identification plate on my 50 old 88 holiday says the style number is 50-37370 or a D at the end I cant make it out. I do not find it in a interchange book I have. and I just ordered from ems the bottom door sheet metal for my doors I want to make sure its the correct part.
I think the number you are looking at is the fisher body number and it won't help you order parts as it was a Fisher number only and not used for anything else....I could be wrong on this but that is what it is on a 55 and I assume it's the same on a 50...Tedd
1950 parts interchange
Fisher body style 3737D is the "88 Series" Deluxe Holiday Coupe per the shop manual. I understand that the early hardtops were convertibles with a hard top welded on in place of the convertible hardware.
The 1950 Olds 76's and 88's were "A" bodies, "supposedly" having the same sheetmetal as Chevys and Pontiacs from the firewall back. Obvious exceptions e.g. Olds used coil springs and Chevy used leaf springs so the trunk floors differ. I know different lines have different stamped recess areas to accommodate different rear bumper wraps.
You will need to do your homework and may need some fabrication to make the "interchangeable" parts fit. I see Olds body manuals for sale from time to time.
