1948 Trans question

Hell again,

So I took delivery of her Saturday. My question is this:

When I pull the gear shifter to Reverse its a real bugger to get it in reverse. You need to kinda "play" with the lever to get it to "pop" into reverse and then you need to hold the lever or it will pop back in drive.

The guy I got it from told me it was a linkage issue.

Any idears?

Thanks

It's a linkage issue....assuming the motor mounts are not broken.

I think coldwar is right on. I would check the motor supports before I screwed with the linkage.

You might try the carb to transmission (long rod) first if as stated the motor mounts are solid. adjust a 1/8 turn at a time then try it with each adjustment. This adjustment sets the gear selector so that the transmission is not left trying to find the proper place to shift. It also to some extent adjust the duration between shifts....Tedd
