Would a 200-R4 from an 84 buick or 85 Monte Carlo work on my 72' 350 that has a TH 350 on it?

 

Yes. As long as it has the dual bolt
pattern. You would need to check
the one on the Chebie.
You may need a different park brake
length, not sure. For a 400 turbo maybe.

 

Yes and yes. The 200-4R will require the cross-member to be set back to the position used for cars w/ the TH-400, which means the parking brake cables will need to be either modified or replaced w/ the proper lengths for that application. Cables are relatively inexpensive and available from RockAuto. You'll need the longer front cable, and a shorter intermediate cable. The rear cables at the rear axle don't need to change.

You'll also need to adapt the TV cable to the carb linkage. The best solution for that would be a TVEZ kit from Bowtie Overdrives. If you want lock-up of the torque converter, as a minimum you'll need to hook that up w/ a relay kit to unlock it when you tap the brakes. Depending on what shifter you want to use, you may need to modify or replace the linkage / shift indicator. Watch out for metric-size fastners on the 200-4R (trans mount, shifter shaft). Everything else is plug-and-chug, even the driveshaft / yoke is the same.

The 200R4 is a hair longer than the TH350, I think like 1/8 inch.

Yes you will need the TV cable set-up. You could find one at the junkyard on any Olds 307 car
