I have a 1970 olds cutlass s 2bl .motor I just pulled it out and am going to do a rebuild on the motor the trans is a th350 new rebuild when I bought the car. what is the stock stall speed on a stock th350 3 speed auto trans. I plan on boring it out 30 over and I have # 6 heads 64 cc im going to do a port job on it and install a larger intake valve with valve job with hardend seats ,guides and springs . ill be changing my 9-1/2 1 pistons to 10 to 1 with a 4bl intake and a quad carb . the rear has a 342 rear ill be using a comp cams xe262h-10 cam with new lifters should I leave the stock converter in it or go with a higher stall convertor. ill also be putting in a coyles timing chain and hie dizzy.

Depends on what you are going to do with it. sounds like you want a little more performance so you could go with a little higher stall. Stock is about 1800 or so. you could go up to about a 2400 or maybe a little higher.

Your build is almost identical to mine except I used an edlebrock 268h cam. I am also running 3:42's. I used a TCI 1800-2000 stall and like it so far. I was thinking stock converter was around 1600 but I am not sure I am right.

Fwiw worth I had tourqe converter technology in villa park il. just go over my 10 in. 3000 stall unit. They can refurbish and re stall your stock one for less than what a tci or b&m cost. They have a facebook page check em out.
