Ok can someone post some pictures of what the kick down actuator/switch looks like on the trans/gas pedal? I believe my car is missing the electric pieces. Also any tips to testing that the vacuum modulator is working correctly? The car never gas me that throw back into seat pull with a kick down like it should. Now i'm working other issues like the carb/throttle carb and tune up etc that may have affected this as well. But when I look at the gas pedal I don't see anything other that the cable. Not sure what year my trans in yeat but would guess after 68 just haven't crawled under to verify. Trans fluid is clean and it shifts smooth.

Yep definitely don't have one of those under there! Why do people have to cut corners when there make some things look great! Ok any tips on testing the modulator is working ocrrectly?

 

Did your car come with a TH350? The pedal for one of those has two loops in it, for two different cables. If someone didn't chase down a TH400 pedal assembly that would explain it. John

I found a picture of the TH350 pedal assembly. Note the two loops, one for the throttle and one for the transmission kickdown.

Without the switch, your transmission won't kick down into passing gear.

 

Nope she was a 350/TH350 car before this 455/TH400 transplant. Will look at the pedal tomorrow can't remember it exactly.

 

You don't have to use the factory setup unless you're going for 100% correctness. All you need is an activation switch with 12V to it and to run a wire from it to the connector on the drivers side of the transmission.
This is one you could use.

Ok new issue has arisen. My car's transmission has no electric solenoid for kick down? I jacked it up today and put it on stands so I can get underneath and look around. The trans had a vaccum modulator. Upon further research I see the trans is still a TH350! Well putting everything back together will makesure a kickdown is installed and adjusted properly.
