I'd really like to try a tranny swap with my 87 Olds Cutlass Supreme. It has a 305 and 200 transmission (not sure if its the TH200 or 200-4R or w/e else there is) and I know that there's a lot of things that would have to be done to be able to pull it off, including cutting out and hooking up a clutch pedal, changing the console, corssmember, driveshaft i assume. but i dont know if the tranny would bolt up to the block or if its rear mounted in the camaro and firebird like it is for the corvette. someone fill me in please.

One step at a time.
You will need to find the pedal setup from an A or G body car (very rare). You will need to have a drive shaft made and reposition the cross member. You will need to change the engine fly wheel. You will need to cut the floor for the shifter. The Camaro/Firebird and the C4 Corvette have the tranmission mounted to the rear side of the engine (just like in your car).
You will need to wire up the reverse light if you want them to work.

The TH 200 is a 3 speed transmissin and the TH200R4 is a 4 speed over drive transmission. If your car has the chevy 305 in it you may have a TH700R4 (a very good transmission)

Good luck

Have fun.. This will probably cost you a little over $3big ones ..Buy a Lakewood bellhousing and use a Hydraulic clutch. Alot of companies sell every thing you need .Move the rear trans support back. have the drive shaft shortened.. Good luck..

I agree that it is a serious undertaking you consider. I have never done one myself but as was said there are many steps involved as Jdrour mentioned. I would just like to welcome both Winnipeg Cutlass and 64flatop to our site. hope to hear more from both of you. And Winnipeg, let us know what you do and if you make the changeover how it went.
