I have a 1956 98 with 4 speed jetaway transmission. It select first and drives but wont change up to any other gears. It does go into reverse. Any ideas?????

Thanks for that info. I'm in the UK so if anyone knows of a specialist over here I'd be glad of a contact number. The car has been in storage and the problem started gradualy once put into use. I've put in fresh fluid and tried shifting as you suggested, but with no success. I guess I'll have to pass it over to an expert now.
