removing 2 sp transmission

I am trying to remoce my 2sp with 330 in 67 cutlass...in my home garage?
I am on jack stands and have been able to disconnect everything EXCEPT the two upper trans bolts on drivers side.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for help
Dennis

Make sure the car is as high as you can get it safely supported on jack stands. Chock the rear wheels.

I use a rachet where I can and combination hand wrench where I can't. Remove dipstick tube by pulling it straight out.

Disconnect the 2 cooling lines, the modulator vacuum line, wiring, and the shift linkage.

Remove the cover and rotate the flexplate by hand to remove all the bolts to the torque converter and push the torque converter towards the transmission. It will be removed with the transmission as a unit.

Disconnect the drive shaft at the rear end then pull it out of the transmission. You'll need a drip pan and a way to stop the fluid from running out the back or you will have mess.

Remove the crossmember trans mount bolts, place a jack under the transmission, and remove the crossmember.

Place a jack stand under the rear of the engine for support.

Pull the transmission out.

Usually I access the two upper bolts from the top, not underneath.

Now would be the time for a TH350 or 2004R swap.

Olds 307. Thanks for reply. Joe has excellant write up on replacing it to a 200R4 (almost a direct replacement!) and I am keeping my ears open to find one..
I had another old jetaway sitting around for a few years, so now I will know if its any good!
FYI... this car was originally from Shaunavon GM!!

I have been to Shaunavon, Saskatchewan once. I see that GM dealer is still there. My 70S I bought in Maple Creek, it was bought new in Saskatoon.
