56 Jetaway?

Ive been trying to do the research to figure out which trans I have on my 56 s88. Looks like a Jetaway to me. Im leaking fluid like a stuck pig and shifting is hard and doesnt want to go to fourth at all. Is there really any point in rebuilding it, or do I just need to go on a hunt for a Dual-Range and spend the extra money (which is tight, i might add)?

Ross Racing has a conversion to put a Turbo 350 or 400 in. I talked Tony and it is supposed to be a turnkey installation including a rebuilt transmission. I think the price is about $2,800 plus shipping. I have to say it does have some appeal. It would take some work to hook up linkage unless you used a Lokar shifter or something like that. You would have to add a transmission cooler also. Just a thought.

I need my decoder ring here. If you have a 56 and it has a "P" for park, you have a jetaway transmission. Not the best ever engineered, but I had mine rebuilt and it works great. About $2500.

Mine leaks to. Im going to put a new pan gasket in this winter…which seams to be here…and see if it cures the drip. Tranny fluid moves around a lot!.

This was pretty much what I was looking for somebody out there to say... I am not a total purest and would'nt mind I a conversion if a rebuild falls short.

Thank you all for responding!
