So when I replaced my cracked m21 case I used a auto gear case. Now I know these are a bit thicker and changes some of the dimensions around. I believe this to be the case with the stick coming through the floor a little towards the rear. If I use a auto gear tail housing fix this. Did they compensate the dimensions or is this just the sad fact of using a aftermarket part? Drives me nuts will be worse when I get a boot on it some day. Matt
Have you mounted your shifter arms yet and adjusted them for neutral position? I ask because I had a similar problem where my stock shifter rods were not long enough to adjust for neutral. I was using an aftermarket shifter mounting plate. I sourced an original mounting plate and my issue was fixed....
That’s a good call never thought that. Well I did have to adjust the rods. I was told these were original olds rods but I’m not to sure on the mount plate now. It looks the same as the one in the assembly manual but you never know. Can any one tell from my picture what it is. Maybe this is a completely wrong tail housing? Matt
I rebuilt my M20 a few years ago using an Auto Gear case, in my factory 4 speed car the stick mounted in the original location, no issues.. Since then I’ve gone with a 5 speed.
