Flush and fill

The 79 H/O I bought has been sitting for 5 plus years. Plans call for all new fluids in engine/trans/rearend. The engine I have decided to use a high detergent diesel oil for at least the first 1000 miles then another change.
I probably will use some sort of synthetic for the rear. Any one better than the other depending on whether it has a posi or not?
Any ideas what I should use for the tranny besides maybe a flush and fill with Dextron?

Thanks, Doug

Hi Doug,

On the tranny, I would drop the pan and replace the filter and gasket before you do the flush. I've done this twice in 70,000 (the trans has 170,000) and it operates as new. I think the Dextron is the way to go.
