Factory Rear Axel Cover?

Hello everyone. Here is a pic of the rear differential cover for my '75 Salon. Is this a factory cover that has been painted?

The red paint color does not appear to be DYI. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would say yes, factory cover. The only other options I recall seeing are aluminum covers.

Yes, that is the cover used on the 1971-up "corporate" ten bolt axles.

Why do you think it wasn't a DIY project? With what appears to be silicone around all the bolts, it looks to me like someone had it off and painted it. Every stock steel diff cover I've seen is black.

That is probably a can of Krylon. Definitely DIY.

The red cover has absolutely been painted after delivery from the factory. FYI, some people ARE capable of painting parts without leaving snotty runs or orange peel.

I always found Krylon less likely to run or have orange peel.
