71 cutlass rearend swap?

I was just woundering if a 1975 10 bolt 8.5 out of a monte carlo will swap with my 10 bolt 8.5 in my Cutlass without doing any modifications?

I am saying No and pretty sure of it. One of the experts will speak up shortly. I think 72 would be the last year to bolt in.

You can pull the guts out of the 1975 (if its a posi) and install that in the 1971-72 Cutlass rear end, but the housings themselves will not interchange.

Also, Chevy rear ends are c clip type, and yours should have bolt-in axles.
So you're pretty much just limited to using the carrier and gears.
